What is a PUA?

The Definition of a Pick Up Artist (PUA):

The acronym "PUA" stands for "Pick Up Artist." It is a term lovingly adopted by the seduction community, an undergroup group of men that make a hobby, a passion, and an art out of seducing women. The PUAs featured on this site even make a living off of their skills with women.

You know those guys who wear the race car jackets and wax their cars every other night? Who take their car to the race track on Sundays and are constantly spending hundreds and thousands of dollars to make their car 1% faster?

How about those dog people, who pamper their little pets to the point where their dogs look better than they do?

To understand the spirit of a PUA, I want you to imagine that level of dedication, but applied only to the pursuit of picking up women... and getting better at picking up women.

A PUA is someone who doesn't just try and meet women to get a girlfriend, or to just get laid. The thrill of the chase, and the concept of improving one's womanizing skills (and no doubt the immediate ego boost that comes wiht it) are the lure that draw a PUA in.

Is a PUA Born, or Made?

In the seduction community, there is a concept of the "natural", or the alpha male. The natural is the guy who seems to just be born with a killer instinct. He didn't need to learn how to talk to women and make them constantly obsess over him. He just does it.

While some highly successful PUAs consider themselves naturals, the vast majority instead are analysts and observers who instead study the make-up of the natural. What causes women to be drawn to these alpha males? And how can we emulate it? Those are the kinds of questions a Pick Up Artist tries to answer.

Think of PUAs as students of a philosophy. Because "pick up" is a vast and somewhat abstract science, a true PUA's journey towards perfection in his seduction never really ends.

What Motivates a PUA to Do What He Does?

Typically (although there are exceptions) PUAs are not born with incredibly good looks or innate social skills that made women and learning to interact with women come easy to them. Every man longs to be "that guy" that women talk about in the bathroom amongst themselves and shriek with excitement when he calls, and to sit on the sidelines merely because you weren't born lucky is too much for some men to bear.

These men search for solutions, because they want the action. They want the women, the power, and the ego boost. And those men who search hard enough (perhaps as you are doing today) eventually run into other men who want the same thing, and are willing to help their fellow man "crack the code" of dating and seduction.

Sex and love are some of the most natural drives we have, and fulfilling those desires can perhaps be one of the most rewarding things you can "work on." Men who truly choose to work on this area of their life tend to be guaranteed at least some degree of success. When the reward for your hard work is having your pick of the most beautiful and fun to be around women, it's no mystery what motivates a PUA to keep learning.

So, How Do I Become a PUA?

It's no mystery, really. Anyone who treats pick up as an art or a skill to be honed is already a Pick Up Artist.

But if you want to be a good one, that will take time, work, and dedication. I do have a few recommendations for you, however.

David DeAngelo - This guy's newsletter is extremely beginner friendly and WILL give you the technique you need to start picking up women almost immediately. You can get lots of his tips and advice for free, but if you're serious, I highly recommend that you go ahead and snag his "Double Your Dating" eBook. It's extremely inexpensive.

mASF Forums - Once a somewhat underground community, this forum is no longer a hidden secret now that PUA culture is more prominent. But the quality of the posters and the posts there are still extremely good. Can be a little confusing to a beginner, so I recommend you start with David DeAngelo's stuff above.

In the end, I think that there is a little bit of PUA in every man.
